• Troubleshooting Fox Village Dressage 2015

If you are having problems opening or using the program, do the following before contacting us:

  • Make sure you have either a full version of Microsoft Access 2013 32-bit or Microsoft Access 2013 32-bit Runtime installed on you computer. If in addition, you have an different version of Microsoft Access installed you will need to modify the desktop shortcut to force Fox Village Dressage to open with either Microsoft Access 2013 32-bit or Microsoft Access 2013 32-bit Runtime

  • In either case, you will get an error that looks like the following if neither of the above has been done:

  • In order to modify the Fox Village Dressage shortcut on the desktop, do the following:

    1. Locate the executable file for Microsoft Access 2013 32-bit. It should be located at C:\Programs\Microsoft Office\Office\MSAccess.exe, but confirm its location and write the path down.

    2. Right-click the Fox Village Dressage shortcut on the desktop and select Properties.

    2. Select the Shortcut tab if it is not already selected.

    3. Locate the Target and modify it as follows:

    "[access_executable_path]" "[fvd.accde_path]"

    e.g.: "C:\Programs\Microsoft Office\Office\MSAccess.exe" "C:\Users\Mary\Documents\FVD\FVD.accde"

Note: Be sure to include the quotes (").

    4. Click OK.

  • Also, Microsoft Access 2013 32-bit cannot be installed on a system that has a 64-bit version of Office. If you attempt to do so, you will get the following error message:

  • You can check to see what version of Microsoft Office you have installed by opening Microsoft Word and going to File > Help and looking at the version information. Below is an example of a 64-bit version:

In Registry Editor, locate the following registry subkey: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Access\Security

    1. (IF YOU DON'T SEE A SECURITY FOLDER) Click the registry subkey, point to New on the Edit menu, and then click Key.

    2. Type Security, and then press ENTER to name the key. (Only do this if there is NOT a Security folder)

    3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

    4. Type VBAWarnings, and then press ENTER to name the entry.

    5. In the right pane, right-click VBAWarnings, and then click Modify.

    6. In the Edit DWORD Value dialog box, click Decimal, and then type 1 under Value data.

Note A value of 0 enables the warning message. A value of 1 disables the warning message.

    7. Click OK.

    8. Exit Registry Editor.

  • Check the properties of the above files and make sure none are 'read-only'

  • Be sure to backup your .sdf, .hdf and .kdf files. We cannot replace your data, so be sure to do this.

  • Is all your data complete? Are you missing any required information on any of your forms or sections? e.g. Are your entries complete with both horse and rider name? Are your classes filled out properly with date, ring and judge(s)? Have you entered all your show information in the Show Information form. Missing required data can prevent proper form displaying and report generation.

  • Open the program and choose Repair All Links from the menu bar. Find each respective file when prompted. Note: Make sure you are not trying to link to data files of a previous version of Fox Village Dressage. These files will not work with the new version.

  • Search the Bulletin Board for similiar questions by others in the group.

  • Download a new FVD.accde file and replace your existing one. When you do this, make sure your Fox Village Dressage program is not open. You may have partially downloaded the file causing the file to be corrupt and not work properly.

  • Compact and Repair your data files. From the Utilities tab of the ribbon, select Compact for each type of data file, including the program. You will be prompted for the file location as appropriate, except for the program file.

  • Make sure your screen resolution is 1024 x 768 or greater.

Note: You can maximize the desktop space by hiding the ribbon. Click the (^) icon on the right side of the ribbon or press Ctrl+F1 to hide the ribbon.

If you do not see all the buttons, such as the Close button at the bottom of the form, drag the edge of the form down to view the remaining controls. This is only needed on small screens such as small laptops. In this case, try to use a higher resolution.

  • If you're having computer issues, please refer to your operating system documentation before contacting us. Remember we've offered this software at a very reasonable price based on the premise that the "User's" peer group would help each other with support. Ron and Pete have limited hours during the day, and although we enjoy helping everyone, we need to limit that time to a minimum. Thanks!!
